WE RAISE RED ANGUS THE OLD-FASHIONED WAY

“Regenerative agriculture” is a buzz-word these days but, in reality, it’s just a return to the natural and best way of doing things. We consider ourselves grass farmers and our primary method of harvesting that grass is the cows. God made ruminants to turn grass into meat and they do it well.

We do our part by using alpine snow melt from Silver Jack Reservoir to irrigate our Certified Organic grass/alfalfa pastures. We rotationally-graze our cows through these fields and they, in turn, feed organic matter back into the soil through their manure. It’s a beautiful, symbiotic process that fuels the nitrogen cycle of the soil (evidenced by all of our red clover!) and produces the best grass-fed beef. Through consistent, regenerative practices we are restoring the health of the soil and the land, while creating a nutrient dense beef that is healthier for you. Your body will thank you and you will notice a difference when you fuel it with a premium protein vs. meat at the grocery store.

Our Red Angus mamas and Red Devon bulls have a stocky build that is better suited for grass-finishing than most larger-boned Continental breeds. It really does matter what breed you use when raising grass-fed beef. We have adjusted our breeding program to select for cows that calve easily, produce rich milk, and are good mothers. The resulting beef is well marbled and full of Omega 3's, energy-promoting B-vitamins, minerals, and cancer-fighting CLA's. When beef is raised right, it promotes health and helps you live your best life.

WE LOVE OUR ANIMALS AND IT SHOWS

We do everything we can to make sure our cows stay fat and happy. After all, if our animals can’t thrive then there’s no point in being in this business. Healthy animals also rarely need medical interventions. We don’t use antibiotics, hormones, or any other junk to produce our meat.

When we herd our cows, we do it on foot, at a slow pace, and use Bud Williams’ low-stress methods based on reading the cues from the cattle. Our ranch follows the standards set forth by the Global Animal Partnership and USDA Organic, which ensures animal welfare in a pasture-centered environment. We are currently GAP 4 certified and Certified Organic through CCOF.

SLOW FOOD, FINISHED RIGHT

Instant gratification and quickness is fine for your internet provider, but not for your food. It takes patience to do things right and to make sure the end product is of the highest quality. We are dedicated to a philosophy of slow food, which means not rushing things and not cutting corners for profit’s sake. It takes time to improve the land through grazing and it takes time to put weight on cattle the right way (not feeding corn for cheap, fast weight gain). Constant, smooth weight gain produces more tender beef and finishing them on a lush buffet of grasses and legumes creates phenomenal flavor. Try our beef and we’re sure you’ll agree: it’s better beef.
